SOUTH BEND - Mr. Richard A. Leitzan, 71,( formerly of Pendleton,
NY, died at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday at Elkhart General Hospital. He
was born on July 1, 1938, in Buffalo, New York to Harold and
Margaret (Alice) Leitzan. On June 17, 1961, in North Carolina, he
married Sandra L. (Belcher), who survives. Mr. Leitzan retired
from General Motors in Buffalo, NY in 1992, where he had been
employed for 32 years. In high school, he was an athlete and a
five star letterman who set records at Orchard Park High School
that to this day still stand. He was a member of the Lou Eibl
Corral, Wranglers and Last Chance Riders. He was an avid
horseback rider. Surviving Mr. Leitzan are his wife, Sandra of
South Bend; one son, Robert Leitzan of Cheektowaga, NY; two
daughters, Deborah (Danny Luke) Leitzan of Granger, and Shannon
(Robert) Werntz of Granger. He is also survived by a
granddaughter, Samantha; one brother, Ronald (Kay) Leitzan of
Colden, NY; two sisters, Norma (Ronald) Erhardt of Louisville, KY
and Marian (Max) France of Boston, NY; and a sister-in-law,
Josephine Leitzan of Delaware, MD. He was preceded in death by
his parents; a brother, Harold Leitzan Jr.; and a sister, June
Smith. There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will
take place at Elkhart Cremation Services. Zimmerman-Inman Funeral
Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online

memorial contributions may be given to Lou Eibl Corral, 79 Pfohl
Road, Chktg., NY, 14225, to promote trail riding and
horsemanship.
