OSCEOLA - LaVerne M. Lehman, 87, of Osceola, passed away
peacefully in her home on Monday, February 8, 2010, with her
loving husband by her side. LaVerne was born June 29, 1922, in
Chicago, Illinois, to the late Leo and Rose Fischer. On June 20,
1942, she married Roy "Gene" Lehman at St. Patrick's
Rectory in South Bend, Indiana. Left to cherish her memory is her
husband, Roy "Gene" Lehman of Osceola; her daughter,
Shirley Schalk of Roseland, Indiana; her twin sister, Lorraine
Witter of South Bend; two granddaughters, Holly (Makaika)
Mwachande and Laurie Lehman; and her great-grandson, Limbani.
LaVerne is also survived by her nieces, Fay Myers and Karen
Kajzer. She was preceded in death by her sons, Larry and Duayne
Lehman, and by her brother, Lenard Fischer. Friends may call from
4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, in the Chapel Hill Funeral
Home, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday,
February 12, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, and interment will
follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. LaVerne was a homemaker.
In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, camping with her family,
and traveling to Florida for the winter with her husband. Online
