Herbert Lee, 62, of South Wellington Street, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2001. He was born on January 23, 1939 in Miami, FL. to the late Joseph and Sally (Beasley) Lee Sr. The family moved to South Bend in 1940. Herbert graduated in 1957 from South Bend Central where he was a member of the 1957 State Championship basketball team. He attended Indiana University. He served with the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1964. Herbert was a former employee of the South Bend Community School Corporation. He is survived by his former wife, Wilma (Lancaster) Lee of South Bend. He is survived by two sons, Eric Lee of South Bend and Brian Hubbard of Chicago, IL., one daughter, Sandi (John) Grady of Grand Rapids, MI., and three grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters Yvonne Wright and Betty J. Taylor of South Bend, one brother, James Lee of South Bend, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ulysses Moody and Joe Lee Jr., and one sister, Vergie Lee Munlin.

Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Lee will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2001 in the Greater St. John M.B. Church, 101 N. Adams. Visitation 12:00 noon, funeral services 1:00 p.m., burial will follow funeral services in South Lawn Cemetery, South Bend. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral services.
