MISHAWAKA - Betty Leach, 74, of Dale
Avenue, died at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday in the home of her daughter on
U.S. 20, South Bend, after an illness. Mrs. Leach retired in 1988
from Wells Electronics Inc., South Bend, as a press operator. She
was born May 19, 1920, in Zanesville, Ohio, and lived in
Mishawaka since 1960, coming from Zanesville.
On March 18, 1944, in Zanesville, as Betty McAvoy,
she married James E. Leach. He died Oct. 4, 1973. She is survived
by three daughters, Martha Lewis of South Bend, Susan Knaup
of Osceola and Christine Weaver of Mishawaka; eight
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn
Stitt of Zanesville and Ruth Hay of Portland, Ore.; and a
brother, Richard McAvoy of Zanesville.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in
Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Duncan Falls (Ohio)
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until
services Thursday in the funeral home. Additional services will
be Sunday in Duncan Falls. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to
8 p.m. Saturday in Sarus-Thompson Funeral Home, Duncan Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph
County Inc. or St. Joseph County 4-H Scholarship Fund.
