Mrs. Anna Layman of New Carlisle has been notified that
her son, Sgt. Harold J. Layman, 31, was killed in action on Luzon
on Feb. 6. Sgt. Layman entered the service April 14, 1941, took
his preliminary training at Camp Shelby, Miss., and had been
overseas with an infantry division since December, 1943. Before
he entered service he worked for Hudson Township for 14 years as
a farmer. Surviving besides his mother, are two brothers, Pfc.
Clement Layman, in the service in Germany, Edward Layman,
Michigan City; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Mrozinski, Rolling
Prairie, and Miss Cecelia Layman, Buchanan, Mich.
