MISHAWAKA - Ruby Lawson, 81, of
Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal, South Bend, formerly of 1719 E.
Third St., died at 6:50 a.m. today in the nursing home. Mrs.
Lawson was born Feb. 7, 1913, in New Lebanon, Ind., and lived in
Mishawaka most of her life.
On Jan. 19, 1935, in Mishawaka, as Ruby Walker,
she married Howard Lawson. He died Dec. 27, 1984. She is survived
by a daughter, Betty Barhydt of Mishawaka; a stepdaughter,
M.J. Plummer of Rochester; five grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ellma Austin and Viola
Johnson, both of Elkhart, and Edna Rusk of
Albuquerque, N.M.; and a brother, King Walker of Frost, Texas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in
Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial will be in
Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Thursday in the funeral home.
