Dorothy Lawrence, 77, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, in Manor Care Health Center, Fort Myers, Fla.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1925, in Sun Prairie, Wis., the daughter of John and Alice Walbridge, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dudley and Gordon.
On Feb. 15, 1947, Dorothy married Donald Lawrence, her loving husband of 55 years, in Madison, Wis. He survives.
She is also survived by her children, Michael Lawrence of Vandalia, Mich., Patrice Freyer of South Bend and Susan Shelly (Bill) of Granger, Ind.; four grandchildren, Vincent Lawrence, Timothy and John Shelley, and Alissa Freyer. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Miller of Sun Prairie, and by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy and Don raised their family in South Bend where she worked for the Indiana Carton Company as office manager until her retirement in 1981. They were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She and Don retired to Bonita Springs and enjoyed the warmth of the Florida sunshine and forming new friendships. Dorothy enjoyed golf, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother and was loved by all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
