SOUTH BEND - Dorothy G. Laskowski, 84, of South Bend,
Indiana passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Regency Place of
South Bend. Dorothy was born August 21, 1923, in Michigan City,
Indiana to John and Anna (Daron) Jankowski. She was
employed with the former Gilbert's Men's Store for 20 years and
Kmart for nine years.
On August 23, 1947, Dorothy married Ralph
Laskowski who survives. Also surviving are her sons, Paul
(Cheryl) Laskowski of North Liberty, Indiana, Philip (Fran)
Laskowski of North Carolina; three grandchildren; Bradley (Scana)
Laskowski, Julie (James) Hogue, Brian (Rebecca) Laskowski;
two great-grandchildren, Jack and Makayla Laskowski; and a
sister, Joan Hanby of Florida. A sister, Helen Jankowski
and a brother Vincent Jankowski preceded her in death. Dorothy
was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; a 1941
Isaac Elston High School graduate in Michigan City, Indiana; a
former Michiana Tidal Wave and National Tidal Wave Navy Veteran,
and a former member of the American Legion Post 50 in South Bend.
Dorothy was proud to march as a flag bearer in South Bend's
Westside Memorial Day Parade for many years until she was
physically unable.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday,
May 9, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home 3545 N. Bendix Drive,
South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30
p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions
may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Office of
Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida
33136-1494.
