SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Rose Mary LaPara, 89, of South Bend, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Monday in Healthwin Specialized Care. She was born on August 20, 1918, in South Bend, to James and Carmella (Bruzcizzi) Nate.

She married Joseph Paul LaPara on November 11, 1938, who passed away September 13, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Joseph (Mary Lee) LaPara of Osceola and Thomas (Sharon) LaPara of South Bend; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Mazzone and Josephine Palmer, both of South Bend; and a brother, Rocco (Theresa) Nate of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame. Friends may call today from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the McGann Hay Funeral Homes, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road at Ironwood, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and of the St. Joseph's Parish Altar Society and Harvest House. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be made in her name to Healthwin Specialized Care.
