George C. Lanphere

George C. Lanphere, 67, residing on
Barryknoll, Granger, Ind., died at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, April
18, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.
He was born on May 2, 1932, in Kimball, Neb., to the late Lysle
and Anita (Schlichting) Lanphere. He was also preceded in
death by two sons, Jeffery and Calvin Lanphere; and by a brother,
Tom Lanphere. He had resided in this community since 1977, coming
from New Hampshire.
On June 26, 1965, in Braintree, Mass., he
married Kathy Sawyer. Mr. Lanphere is survived by his
loving wife of 34 years, Kathy Lanphere; two daughters, Beth
(Jamie) Dahlkemper of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Jennifer
(Brian) Lanphere-Geraghty of Boulder, Colo.; and by a
grandson, Kelly Geraghty of Boulder.
Mr. Lanphere retired in 1997 as manager of
South Bend Associates following 20 years of service. He taught a
computer course in the Masters Program and in the Business
College at Indiana University-South Bend for many years. George
was a member of Clay United Methodist Church, South Bend, the
Elks Lodge, and Potawatomi Kiwanis Club. He was an Air Force
veteran and served his country well during the Korean Conflict.
Memorial services for George Lanphere will
be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, in Clay United
Methodist Church, 17646 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Rev. Herb
Buwalda and Rev. Sam Brookshire, pastors of the church, will
officiate. Cremation will take place. The family will receive
friends from one hour prior to the memorial service.
