SOUTH BEND - Tommy Lane passed away peacefully in The Center for
Hospice on the evening of May 14. His parents, Anthony and Goldie
Lane, and sister, Sharon Switalski preceded him in death. Tommy
leaves behind two sisters, Linda (Josef) Wieczorek from South
Bend and Julie (William) Rutledge of Schoolcraft, Michigan, along
with many nieces and nephews. Tommy loved his home, friends, and
staff at the Fort Wayne State Developmental Hospital and alter in
life, his beautiful home in south Bend through Anthony Wayne
Services (AWS). The staff at AWS were inspired by faith and
commitment to care for Tommy and enabled him to have a very
pleasant and loving life for the past four years. Walking around
and wearing a baseball cap with a hug for everyone, Tommy was a
very happy and diligent human being,. He loved drawing, Big Macs
and fries, basketball, coffee, coins, and listening to music,
especially in the care. When he was working Tommy was very good
at and enjoyed stuffing envelopes. Arrangements will be made by
Zahoran Funeral Home. There will be no visitation, but a memorial
service, date and time to be announced soon, will be held at St.
Matthew Cathedral with his loving friends and family. All
donations may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative
Care, which the family thanks dearly for taking such good care of
Tommy and all who came to see him.
