Ralph A. Landen, 92, of Hamilton
Grove, formerly of 1517 N. O'Brien St., died at 5:25 p.m. Friday
in LaPorte Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Landen retired
from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in 1967 as a salesman. He
was born Sept. 21, 1904, in Dunkirk, Ind. to Rev. George E. and
Elizabeth (Porter) Landen and had lived in the South Bend
area since 1920, coming from Berrien Springs, Mich.
On Sept. 11, 1926, in South Bend, he married
Helen M. Baum who preceded him in death Dec. 13, 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Strycker of
LaPorte, Ind., a son, Tom G. Landen of South Bend; eight
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Landen was a
member of Central United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men
and had achieved the position of life underwriter in the
insurance industry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m
Tuesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., with
Rev. Mary Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Highland
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in
the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Sunday School of the Air or Hamilton Grove.
