SOUTH BEND - Esther E. Lanchsweerdt, 92, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2008, in the Sanctuary at St. Joseph's, South Bend. Esther was born on March 14, 1916, in Mishawaka, to August and Marie (Coryn) Boulanger. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Albert Boulanger of Goshen, IN. On April 25, 1936, as Esther Boulanger, she married Robert C. Lanchsweerdt, who died on February 8, 1990. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (Mike) Lutomski of South Bend; a son, Robert (Jan) Lanchsweerdt of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer) Lanchsweerdt, Andrew (Tracy) Lanchsweerdt, Keri (Brian) Sackowski, Michael (Teena) Lutomski, Thomas (Diane) Lutomski, Stephen (Janet) Lutomski, David Lutomski, Debbie (Jack) Spillman, Kathie Lutomski, Sue (Dave) Dull and Barbie (Dean) Ernsperger; 20 great-grandchildren and one due in October; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Omer Boulanger of Port Orange, FL. Esther was a lifelong area resident. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral, South Bend.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4th, the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5th, in St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend, with Rev. Dermot Gahan officiating.
