SOUTH BEND - Ethel Jane Omundson Lampsa, 88, a lifelong
resident of South Bend, passed away peacefully Sunday evening,
December 14, 2008, in the Cameron Glen Care Center, Reston, VA.
She was born July 21, 1920, in South Bend, the daughter of
Chester and Ruth Fogelstrom Omundson, and had lived
her lifetime in South Bend until moving to Virginia in March 2007
to be near her daughter. She retired as a secretary from the
South Bend Community School Corp. in 1986. She was a longtime
member of the former Ridgedale Presbyterian Church and attended
Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend. She is survived by
her daughter, Nancy Jane Tucker-Goldman, and her
husband, Rick Goldman of Fairfax, VA; and her son, Michael Allen
Lampsa of South Bend; and one grandson, Erik Tucker, and his
wife, Dana Cash of Falls Church, VA. Ethel was very proud
of her Scandinavian heritage. She loved Chicago and South Bend.
She was always curious about things, and had a great love for
dogs.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Don Neeley will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. It was Ethel's desire that all memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 North Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
