MISHAWAKA - Carol Ann Lamphier, 69, of Mishawaka, Indiana,
passed away in her home on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, of natural
causes. Carol was born June 17, 1939, in Michigan City, Indiana,
to the late Fred and Dorothy (Knoblock) Schroeder.
On October 6, 1956, the former Ms. Schroeder married Mr. Ray
Lamphier in Angola, Indiana. Her husband Ray survives along with
their children, Johnny Joe Lamphier and Wanetta Lamphier, both of
Mishawaka; a son-in-law, David Green of Mishawaka; and two
sisters, Sandra (Tim) Borsodi of Mishawaka and Connie
(Ken) Smessaert of South Bend. Carol is also survived by four
grandchildren, Kayla, Jaxsin, Caden and David; along with several
nieces and nephews.
Carol was employed as a department
supervisor for 24 years with K-Mart in Mishawaka. She enjoyed
traveling with her family and friends. Her favorite destinations
were Greece, Hawaii and Alaska. A lifelong resident of Mishawaka
and the eldest of three girls growing up, Carol was like a second
mother to her sisters. Carol loved her family, and was always
available to baby-sit their children, and always had a loving hug
and open lap for her nieces and nephews. She loved her
grandchildren beyond belief, and her home and arms were always
open to them. She cheered the loudest for their baseball games,
and was always by their side. Carol was a "people
person," and lived her life helping others, and hurting no
one. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care.
There will be no visitation, and services will be private. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
