SOUTH BEND - Vernon Jay Lake, 57, of Bridgeton Lane, South Bend, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 18th, in Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 10th, 1951, in Auburn, Indiana, to Stanley H. and Nancy Jane (King) Lake.

On January 22nd, 2005, he married his wife, Jean Ann, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives with two children, Lisa and Ryan, with a granddaughter, Olivia. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, Stanley H. and Elizabeth Lake of Woodburn, Indiana; along with his brother and his wife, Stanley E. and Janis Lake of Bristol, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lake, along with his grandparents, Edward and Fannie Lake. Mr. Lake was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving three tours with the United States Navy. He was a self-employed chef.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka.
