Sandra Irish Lake, 56, residing on
Winamac Lake Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Hospice House. Sandra was born in Mishawaka
on Sept. 25, 1942, to the late Marcel and Flora (Wallace) Van
Den Abeele, and lived most of her life in this community. She
was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Michael Irish
on June 12, 1988. On Oct. 14, 1961, in Granger, Ind., she married
Jerry Irish. Then on Sept. 8, 1990, in South Bend, Ind., she
married Kenneth H. Lake. Sandra worked several years for Penn
Central and was later employed with Health Quest in South Bend.
She graduated from Indiana University of South Bend, receiving
Paralegal Certification in 1986, and was thereafter self-employed
as a paralegal until she retired in 1993. She was a past member
of the Michiana Paralegal Association, and Friends of Bill W.
Since 1988. She volunteered at St. Pius X Catholic Church where
she helped organize the Children's Choir. She also provided
volunteer service at Tanglewood Trace, Mishawaka. She is survived
by her husband, Kenneth H. Lake; three sons, Matthew James (Lisa)
Irish of Granger, Christopher Patrick (Leslie) Irish of South
Bend and Jason Hamilton Lake of Pensacola, Fla.; a granddaughter,
Dakota Jean Irish; and by her uncle, Richard Elbode of
Mishawaka.
Services for Mrs. Lake will be held at 11
a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528
Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Richard A. Laurick, C.S.C.,
will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m.
prior to services in the Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
