Mrs. Ethelbel Austin Lacy, 90, passed
away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001.
Mrs. Lacy was born June 16, 1911, to George
and Elsie Austin in Mishawaka, Ind. She had resided in El
Paso, Texas, the past two years. Mrs. Lacy is survived by her
daughter, Willa Sue Christensen of Columbus, Ohio; and by
her son, Stephen S. Lacy and his wife, Mary of El Paso;
grandchildren, Samuel Lacy and his wife, Brenda, Linda Sue Lacy
and her husband, Vernoy Walker, and John Lacy and his
wife, Angela; her brother, Robert Austin of Roswell, N.M.; seven
great-grandchildren, Dustin Smith, Lindsey and Kaitlyn Lacy,
Austin, William and Rachel Walker, and Jason Spencer Lacy; and by
many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Samuel Henry Lacy, and by her brother, George Donald
Austin.
Mrs. Lacy worked in the U.S. Army Air Corps
during World War II, several years with Bendix Home Appliances,
and then retired after many years with the First National Bank of
Mishawaka.
Always active in her church, she was a
longtime member of Harris Prairie Church of Christ in Granger,
Ind., and most recently Bethany Christian Church of El Paso. Mrs.
Lacy received recognition for many years of volunteer service
with the Saint Joseph County (Ind.) Chapter of the American Red
Cross. She will be missed by her many friends and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to the American Red Cross or to either of her
churches. A memorial service will be led by Reverend Dan Crosley
at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Bubb Funeral Home,
Mishawaka. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
