Edward A. Kwiecinski (June 28, 1919 - July 17, 2001)

Edward Andrew Kwiecinski, 82, of Arrowhead Circle, South Bend, Ind., died Tuesday morning, July 17, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Edward was a retired letter carrier employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, and was a lifelong area resident. Edward was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Okinawa, and received his Purple Heart. He was a member of the Army and Navy Union where he served as commander/member of the American Legion/Chain O'Lakes Conservation Club where he served in several capacities for many years.

He was born June 28, 1919, in South Bend, to Martin and Alice (Kaczmarek) Kwiecinski, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Zenobia Krych; and a brother, Larry Kwiecinski.

On June 2, 1942, in Forrest County, Miss., he married Mildred Bronski, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Jerri (Gary) Tobolski of Plymouth, Ind., Susan (Jerry) Kulpa of Yuma, Ariz., and Melissa (Richard) DeClercq of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Brian (Chantelle) Tobolski of Culver, Ind., Andrew (Heidi) Tobolski of South Bend, Jason Kulpa of Phoenix, Ariz., and Adam and Janelle Kulpa, both of Yuma, Emily and Evan DeClercq, both of South Bend; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Margaret and Delores Kwiecinski, Christine Banicki, Lorie Wroblewski and Arlene Spitz, all of South Bend; two brothers, Marvin and Ronald "Ron" Kwiecinski, both of South Bend; and by 29 nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in HICKEY Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, 219/289-1000. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
