SOUTH BEND - Peter Kuta, 84, of Walnut Street, died at 7:40 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Kuta had worked in the maintenance department at the University of Notre Dame for 20 years and was a watchmaker for 50 years. He was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Poland, and lived in this area since 1951, coming from Germany.

On June 27, 1947, in Germany, he married Sophia Gieracz. She survives with two sons, Robert and George, both of South Bend. He was a member of the American and Indiana Watchmakers associations.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.
