Anthony A. Kusnierek

Dec. 4, 1908 - March 27, 1999

 

Anthony A. Kusnierek, 90, loving father and husband, passed away at 5 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, in Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mr. Kusnierek was born on Dec. 4, 1908, in South Bend, Ind. He lived most of his life in South Bend, but spent ten years in Milwaukee, Wis., from 1965 to 1975. He retired in 1975 from NAPCO in Milwaukee. He was previously employed with the National Milk Company for 25 years and Notre Dame press for 10 years. After retiring, he worked for Whiteford Companies from 1977 to 1990.

 

On June 9, 1937, in South Bend, he married Henrietta Sosinski, who survives.

 

He is also survived by two sons, Cornelius B. (Mary) Kusnierek of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Merwyn A. (Nancy) Kusnierek of South Bend; ten grandchildren, Ivy Chauncey of Arizona, Gregory (Dianne) Kusnierek and Elizabeth (Andrew) Johnson of California, Gena (David) Sumner of South Bend, Kevin (Grace) Kusnierek of New York, Lisa (Jeffrey) Hammes of Illinois, Lori (Donald) McWilliams of Indiana, Amy (John) Sorenson, Anthony Kusnierek III, and Christopher Kusnierek, all of Michigan; eleven great grandchildren, David Chauncey, Leaha Kusnierek, Debra Kusnierek, Breann Johnson, Kyle Sumner, Michael Kusnierek, Kerian McWilliams, Christine McWilliams, John Sorenson, Jr., Jessica Sorenson, and Kyle Sorenson.

 

His parents, Joseph and Jennie (Golubski) Kusnierek; a son, Anthony Kusnierek, Jr.; three sisters, Cornelia Kusnierek, Esther Doty, Irene Nowinski; and brother, Joseph Kusnierek, Jr., all preceded him in death.

 

Mr. Kusnierek was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Parish and a former active member of St. Hedwig Parish.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Anthony de Padua Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish vigil will be held at 6 p.m.
