Walter F. Kush, 86, of North Johnson
Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, March 19, in
Saint Joseph's Care Center West, South Bend. Mr. Kush was born on
Dec. 15, 1916, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Katherine
Kush.
On May 1, 1945, in Oakland, Calif., he
married Mary Helen Holubiak, who preceded him in death on
Nov. 1, 1986. Mr. Kush was also preceded in death by three
sisters and two brothers. He is survived by three sons, Greg
(Catherine) Kush and John Kush, both of South Bend, and Mike Kush
of Midlothian, Va.; a sister, Gene (Casey) Slott of South
Bend; and by a brother, Leo Kush of South Bend.
Mr. Kush was a stores manager for American
Electric Power for over 40 years before retiring in 1986. He was
a United States Navy veteran of World War II, a parishioner of
St. Stanislaus B.M. Catholic Church, and was a member of the
IBEW. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, cooking, and working on cars.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. today, March 21, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North
Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited
at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10
a.m. Saturday, March 22, in St. Stanislaus B.M. Catholic Church,
415 North Brookfield Street, South Bend, with burial to follow at
St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society, 535 West Edison, Unit #6,
Mishawaka, IN 46545.
