Sister M. Dolorissima Kullmann CSC

Sister M. Dolorissima, C.S.C., (Margaret Veronica Kullmann), 96, was born in Schweinheim, Bavaria, Germany, to the late John J. and Veronica Faith Kullmann. She is survived by her sister, Sister M. Louis Gonzague, C.S.C.

 

Before entering the Congregation, Sister M. Dolorissima was a sales clerk in Germany. Sister immigrated to the United States and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1923, made her first profession in 1926, and final profession Aug. 15, 1941. Her early education was in Germany.

 

Sister was assigned to Deming, N.M., to help care for the patients at the Holy Cross Sanatorium. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to be sacristan of the chapel and patient visitor at Holy Cross Hospital. Her special love was for the babies and she spent much time in the maternity department. While in Salt Lake she was assigned to Saint Ann's Orphanage where she cared for the orphans and acted as infirmarian. She spent time at Saint Agnes Hospital, Fresno, Calif., as sacristan in the chapel and patient visitor.

 

Sister returned to Saint Mary's Convent in 1977 and was active in ancillary services as long as she was able. Sister was active in the ministry of prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

 

Wake services will be at 4 p.m. today, Sept. 3, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
