Pauline P. Kukla, 93, of Sandwood
Drive, South Bend, Ind., formerly of South Sheridan Avenue, South
Bend, died at 3:41 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, in Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1906, in South Bend, and was a lifelong
area resident. Mrs. Kukla was a former employee of the former
Wilson Brothers.
On May 29, 1928, as Pauline Strozewski,
she married Sylvester Kukla, who preceded her in death on Dec.
28, 1990. She was also preceded in death by four brothers,
Casimer, Walter, Frank and Clem Strozewski; and by three sisters,
Sarah Jerzak, Harriett Piecuch and Dorothy Rhoutsong.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan (H. Dean) Hough of
South Bend and Loretta Kukla of Mishawaka, Ind.; two
grandchildren, Robert (Phyllis) Stoynoff and Michael
(Janice) Stoynoff, both of South Bend; a step-grandson, James
Hough of Mishawaka; and by three great-granddaughters, Cheri Lynn
Stoynoff, Jessica Hough and Adrienne Hough, all of South Bend.
Mrs. Kukla was a member of Club 53, and St. Ann's Society of St.
Casimir Catholic Church.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m.
today, Jan. 26, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, where a Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Services will be at
10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, in St. Patrick Catholic Church,
with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church Project
2000.
