Betty J. Kuhn, 77, of Rue Voltaire, South Bend, Ind., crossed over peacefully in her sleep at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, in her residence.

Betty was born in Lincoln, Neb., on June 19, 1925, to Robert and Ruth (Willcutt) Buck, who both have preceded her in death. Betty was also preceded by her husband, Paul M. Kuhn, and her two sisters, Marie Swathwood and Loraine Swathwood.

Betty is survived by one son, James M. Kuhn and his wife Sharon of San Francisco, Calif.; and two daughters, Becky A. Walker and her husband Donald of Mishawaka, Ind., and Paula J. Barnette and her husband Brad of Mishawaka; four grandchildren; Winona Kuhn, Jennifer Myers, Carrie Severens and Shandra Barnette; five great grandchildren, Martin Kuhn, Andrew Severens, Kyle Severens, Caitlyn Myers, and Joseph Martinez; and one brother, Dale Buck of Straudsburg, Pa.; and longtime friend and companion, James Rice of South Bend.

Betty was a supervisor in Fire Rating for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company retiring in 1987 after 16 years. She was a member of American Legion #161 in Mishawaka.

Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003.

Father Robert Yast will officiate the services with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Ind.

Editor: As Betty J. Buck she married Paul M. Kuhn on Nov. 27, 1947 in St. Joseph County IN. He died June 29, 1962 in Mishawaka.
