MISHAWAKA - Alta "Tiny" Kuhn, 101, of Mishawaka,
passed away Thursday afternoon, March 22, 2007, in Countryside
Place of Mishawaka. Tiny was born August 26, 1905, in Mishawaka,
a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Haines) Cook.
While riding the Mishawaka Trolley Car she met her future
husband, Otto Kuhn.
On May 9, 1926, the couple were married and
made Mishawaka their home. Tiny was a homemaker who enjoyed
crocheting, reading, card games, and playing the organ and piano.
She was a longtime member of St. Monica Catholic Church and
belonged to their Rosary Society. She was also a member of the
Knights of Columbus Wives and volunteered many hours with the
auxiliary at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka. Over the years,
Tiny and Otto enjoyed square dancing. Family was an important
part of Tiny's life and the holidays were always a special family
time. Tiny's surviving family includes her daughter, Helen M. Heiser
of Punta Gorda, Florida; four grandchildren, Larry (Mary) Heiser
of Florida, Jerry (Jane) Heiser of Valparaiso, Barb (Ken) Botka
of Mishawaka and Sue (Tony) Escher of Mishawaka; 12
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Tiny was
preceded in death by her husband Otto in 1989; her three
brothers, Milton, Ervin and Leroy Cook; her sister, Marie White;
and by her son-in-law, William Heiser.
Friends may spend time with Tiny's family
today from 4 to 6 p.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral
Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka, where the Rosary will be
prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be Monday from 9:30 to 10
a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave.,
Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at
10 a.m. in the church, with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Memorials may be made to St. Monica Church or to the charity of
one's choice.
