Elisabeth H. Kuespert, 97, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, in the Saint Joseph Care Center.

She was born on April 1, 1906, in Denver, Colo., to the late Matthew W. and Henrietta (McCormick) Browne. On May 27, 1927, in Denver, she married John G. Kuespert, who passed away Nov. 19, 1990. A son, John M. Kuespert, passed away on June 3, 1990; a granddaughter, Kathleen A. Bubelenyi, passed away on Dec. 5, 1971; a daughter-in-law, Edith Kuespert, passed away on Nov. 11, 1988; and her only brother, John M. Browne, passed away on April 5, 2002.

Elisabeth is survived by a daughter, Elisabeth (Michael) Bubelenyi of South Bend; five sons, Charles D. (Clara) Kuespert of Temple, Texas, Edward F. (Beverly) Kuespert of Ellicott City, Md., Thomas L. (Carolyn) Kuespert of Lafayette, Ind., Ralph G. (Gayle) Kuespert of Dixon, Ill., and Robert H. (Karla) Kuespert of South Bend; 15 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and by one step-great-great-grandchild.

She was a wife, a mother and homemaker. Elisabeth was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #357 and the West Denver High School Alumni Association.

Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, and one hour prior to service at 11 a.m. in Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne St., South Bend, on Saturday, Jan. 10. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
