Katherine A. (Kate) McCloughan Krzyzak, 26, of Old Trace Ct., Granger, died at 12:25 p.m. Friday January 25th at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Kate was born in Elkhart on September 29, 1975 and had lived in this area all of her life.
On October 21, 2001, she married her soul-mate, James Krzyzak, from LaPorte. Kate lived her life with strength, perseverance and determination. She strived to be the best, and was the best daughter, sister, wife and friend. Her love had no limits. Kate won her 26 year battle with Cystic Fibrosis on January 25, 2002. Her body weakened but her soul remained strong. Kate was preceded in death by her father, Dr. William E. McCloughan, on April 1, 2001, and her half brother, William M. McCloughan on July 20, 1996. Kate is survived by her husband, James Krzyzak of Granger; her mother, Marianne McCloughan of Granger; her brother, Peter (Erin) McCloughan of Chicago; and a half sister, Karen (Steven) Carr of Indianapolis.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Mary's College in May of 2001, was a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology, Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, and a lifetime member of Hilltop Lutheran Church.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 28th in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Christ The King Lutheran Church, South Bend with Rev. Frederick Pfotenhauer officiating with Rev. Steven Schwier and Rev. Bill Gafkjen assisting. Committal services will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation P.O.
