Brother Basil CSC, nee Joseph Marion Kruse, 59, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the faculty house of Holy Cross High School in New Orleans, where he had been a teacher of music for several years. He was born May 24, 1893 in Berlin, Germany; entered the Juniorate Sept. 11, 1907; received his holy habit July 2, 1910; and took his final vows June 29, 1918. He spent most of his religious life as a teacher in the Holy Cross schools. From 1927 to 1933 he served as a missionary in Dacca, India, where he taught in St. Gregory High School.

Friends may call in the community house at Notre Dame from 7 p.m. Sunday until funeral services at 8 a.m. Monday in Scared Heart Church on the campus. Internment will be in the community cemetery.
