Rev. Frank E. Kronewitter, 69, of St. Anne's Retirement Home, 1900 Randalia Drive, Fort Wayne, IN, passed away of natural causes at 8:00 A.M. Monday, July 31, 2006, in Fatima, Portugal.

He had been an ordained Catholic priest in the South Bend/Fort Wayne Diocese since 1962. When in South Bend he worked as an assistant pastor for St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, Our Lady of Hungary and St. Monica Catholic Church in Mishawaka. He was presently working at St. Anne's Retirement Home, where he was living. He was born May 26, 1937, in Mishawaka, to the late Eugene and Irene (Felty) Kronewitter. He served at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntington, IN, from 1986-1992, and had lived in Fort Wayne since 1992.

Father Kronewitter is survived by two sisters, Charlotte (Sigmund) Wolz of South Bend and Mary M. (Dale) Stastny of Bettendorf, IA; and by a brother, Ralph (Rose) Kronewitter of Valrico, FL. Also surviving are eight nieces and five nephews, 11 great-nieces and 18 great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by two nephews, Jon Wolz and Mark Kronewitter.

There was a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. today in St. Anne's Retirement Home, Fort Wayne, where friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.

Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Visitation will also be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony's Church.
