Eileen H. Kreps, 81, of Cherry Pointe
Drive, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 6:05 a.m.
Monday, Sept. 17, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Kreps
was born June 6, 1920, in Manchester, England, to Ernest and Jane
(Hyde) Hoyland, and had lived in the South Bend area most
of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a
brother, Robert Hoyland.
On Nov. 26, 1938, in South Bend, as Eileen Hoyland,
she married Robert D. Kreps, who survives. She is also survived
by two daughters, Janice E. (Jon) Campbell of Scottsdale,
Ariz., and Judy J. (Greg) Strychalski of South Bend; and
by eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kreps retired from the former
Robertson's Department Store as a hostess and cashier in the
tearoom until its closing, and had worked in other departments in
the store. She was a member of Epworth Memorial United Methodist
C hurch and was involved in the women's groups in the church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Friday, Sept. 21, in the Epworth Memorial United Methodist
Church, with Rev. Steven Brey officiating. Burial will follow at
St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Friends may call
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 20, in the Welsheimer
Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Memorial contributions may
be made to Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, 2404 Lincoln
Way West, South Bend, IN 46628.
