John Kowalski

John Kowalski, 82, of West Grace Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 3:24 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, in the Cardinal Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Poland, and had lived in this area since immigrating from post-war Germany in 1951. Mr. Kowalski retired from the Uniroyal Corporation. John belonged to St. Adalbert Catholic Church where he was active in the church activities and many local Polish organizations.

On Aug. 30, 1945, in Gangkofen, Germany, he married Marianna Pedrycz, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Stella (Dr. Richard) Herrick of Opelika, Ala.; three grandchildren, Sophia Marie Herrick, Richard Scott (Cynthia) Herrick of Opelika and Jahn (Cindy) Herrick of Durham, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, April and Cassie Hill of Opelika; one brother, Henry Kowalski of Montgomery, N.Y.; and by a niece, Mary Ann of New York.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, with a Rosary at 4 p.m. today, Dec. 11th. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12th, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
