SOUTH BEND - Rev. Kenneth Joel Kovas,
43, of Lake Wylie, S.C., formerly of South Bend, died of natural
causes Thursday night in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C.
Rev. Kovas was pastor of Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, Lake
Wylie. He was born Sept. 17, 1952, in South Bend. He married
Susan Grant Hasty. She survives with two sons, Joseph
Daniel Kovas and Grant Walker Kovas, both at home; his mother,
Anne L. Kovas of South Bend; a sister, Dianne Papandria of
South Bend; and three brothers, John of Austin, Texas, and
Timothy and Daniel, both of South Bend. He graduated from Ball State
University and received his master's of divinity degree from
University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Bethel United
Methodist Church, Chester, S.C. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Barron Funeral Home, Chester, is handling
arrangements. Memorial services will be held
in South Bend at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made
to Good Samaritan United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box
5082, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

was in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, S.C. Barron Funeral Home, Chester,
