George L. Kovacs

April 19, 1924 - May 12, 2002

George L. Kovacs, 78, of Lincoln Way East, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, May 12, in Hospice House.

Mr. Kovacs retired in 1982 from South Bend Range where he was employed for 19 years. He was born on April 19, 1924, in South Bend, to George and Anna Kovacs. Mr. Kovacs was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Anna Hornyak.

George served in the United States Army during World War II, and belonged to the Howard Park Senior Citizens Pool Players.

On July 30, 2000, George married Annetta Fristoe, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Cathy (Joey) Trutwein of Tempe, Ariz.; a stepson, Alan (Debbie) Fristoe of South Bend; two grandchildren, Bryce and Amanda; a step-grandchild, Heather; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, with cremation to follow.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
