Jack Kovach

SOUTH BEND - Jack Kovach, 71 of South Bend, entered this
world on October 30, 1936 and departed this world on November 20,
2007 to be with this Lord. His parents who preceded him in death
were Winifred (Redpath) Kovach and Michael Kovach. Also
preceding him in death was his brother in-law, Bob Landick.
Through all of Jack's grade and high school attendance was at
Washington High School. He graduated in 1954. Then he joined the
Navy in 1954, and served his country proudly until 1957.
Following being discharged, he was employed at Engineered Nylon
Corp.
Jack married Barbara Landick on February 14,
1959. They have two children, David (Karen) Kovach of Osceola and
Susan (Greg) Morlen of Fishers, Indiana. Jack also had six
grandchildren: Beccs, Jack, Danielle and Jennifer Kovach all of
Osceola, and Andrew and Alexander Jack Morlen of Fishers,
Indiana. He also has a sister in-law, Elaine Landick of South
Bend; and a brother in-law, Larry (Martha) Landick of South Bend.
Jack was a Journeyman
pipefitter-steamfitter, receiving his apprentice training at
Studebaker's. He then worked at Clark Equipment Co. in Buchanan
and retired from A.M. General Corp., Mishawaka, Indiana in 1996.
He was a lifelong resident of South Bend, except for a year-long
residency in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1990. While living there,
he was employed by Colonial Williamsburg as a Costumed
Interpretive Dining Host at Chowning's Tavern. He loved every
minute of his stay there and made it a point to visit there at
least twice a year. Jack was a member of Clay United Methodist
Church. He belonged to the Journeymen Group, Michiana Emmaus
Community and Sidewalk Sunday School. He loved the youth of the
church and each Wednesday he would cook for them. Jack loved his
family, his church and most of all, his Lord with whom he will
spend eternity.
Friends may visit with Jack's family,
Friday, November 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family
Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. South Bend. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. in Clay Church North
Campus, one-quarter mile north of Cleveland Rd. on Ironwood Rd.,
South Bend, with Rev. Kim Bloom officiating. Friends may also
visit with the family Saturday one hour prior to the start of
services at the church. In loving memory of Jack, memorial
contributions may be made to the church or to The Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN.
