SOUTH BEND - Alex E. Kovachevich, 76, of West
Madison Street, died at 7:12 p.m. Sunday in his home after an
illness. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SOUTH BEND - Services for Alex E.
Kovachevich, 76, of West Madison Street, who died at 7:12
p.m. Sunday in his home after an illness, will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial
will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made
to Monson Chapel.
Mr. Kovachevich retired in 1988 from White
Farm after 44 years of service as a tool steel welder. He also
was the co-owner of Jewelry & Gift Cove. He was born April
14, 1918, in Chisholm, Minn., and lived in South Bend most of his
life. On June 27, 1944, in Plymouth, he married Evelyn M. Peltz.
She survives with a son, Dr. Larry of Maple Valley, Wash.; three
grandchildren; three sisters, Katie Evanovich of Gary,
Violet Hoover of Salisbury, Md., and Molly Bennett
of Fort Wales, Fla.; and a brother, Steve (Kovachevich) La-Porta
of South Bend. He was a member of the church, American Legion
Post 50, Moose Lodge 58, Near Northwest Neighborhood Association,
American Association of Retired Persons, and was a veteran of
World War II.
