Ellen M. Kovach (June 17, 1926 – May 26, 2008).

SOUTH BEND – Ellen M. Kovach, 81, passed away at 4:20pm Monday, May 26, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Med Center.

Ellen was born on June 17, 1926 in South Bend to Miklos and Clara Darmos. Ellen had been employed by Bendix, Our Lady of Hungary School and Oliver School. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, and its St. Anne Society. Ellen loved her grandchildren and enjoyed recording classic movies. Autumn was her favorite time of the year, she loved to watch the leaves changing colors, Christmas was also a special season for her. On September 11, 1948 in South Bend she married Gene J. Kovach. He died on October 25, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son Alan Kovach, a sister Bette Malins and a brother Larry Darmos.

Surviving are a daughter Ret. Commander USN Cindy (Chuck Fugate) Kovach of Belleville, IL; a son Gary Kovach of South Bend; and three grandchildren Justin Kovach of St. Petersburg, FL Tracy Kovach, and Jane Kovach both of South Bend and a daughter-in-law of Amy Barnett of St. Petersburg,FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, May 30 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary School.
