Salome "Sally" Kosek, 94, of North Adams Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, in Regency Place. She was born on Nov. 9, 1909, in South Bend, to Jacob and Josephine (Jeske) Kalka, who preceded her in death.
On Nov. 24, 1929, in South Bend, Sally married Stanley J. Kosek, who passed away on Jan. 18, 1973, along with sons, Stanley J. Kosek Jr. and John A. Kosek. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Cencelewski, Theresa MacKielski and Vera Grzeskiewicz; and by brothers, Stephen Kalka, Leon Kalka and Clement Kalka. Surviving Sally is a daughter, Kathleen A. (Thomas) Kaylor of White Pigeon, Mich.; daughters-in-law, Susan Kosek and Nancy Kosek; grandchildren, Barry Kosek, Bruce Kosek, Lori Gonzales, Dr. Douglas Kosek, Shawn Kaylor and Thomas J. Kaylor; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Regina Jedrejewski of South Bend, Evelyn Feliss of Ohio and Marie Szulczyk of South Bend; and a brother, Frank Kalka of Warsaw, Ind.
Sally retired from Eddie's Restaurant after working for 26 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Resurrection Choir, the Altar and Rosary Society, Harvest House of St. Stanislaus Church, and St. Casimir Senior Center.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 21, in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
