MISHAWAKA - John "Yanko" Kosanovich, 81, passed away at 4:40 am Friday, August 15, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Med Center. John was born on September 4, 1926 in South Bend to Josip and Smilja (Zernich) Kosanovich. He retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation also had been employed by Drewery's, and was a World War II Navy veteran. On February 28, 1953 he married the former Georgia "Jackie" Jordan. She died on December 19, 1997. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Nick Kosanovich and Stephen Kosanovich. Surviving are two daughters Debra (Brad) Fahl of Fort Wayne and Bonnie Ames of South Bend; two grandchildren Jordan Fahl and Lauren Fahl both of Fort Wayne; and a sister Mildred Miskin of South Bend. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 in Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 2-8 Sunday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue and 1 hour prior to services in the church, Monday. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church.
