MISHAWAKA - John V. Korpal, 96, of
Indianapolis, formerly of Mishawaka and South Bend, passed away
Monday morning, January 8, 2007, in St. Francis Hospital Center,
Beech Grove, Indiana.
John was born February 14, 1910, in South
Bend, a son of the late John S. and Stella (Jankowski)
Korpal. For many years he was the owner/operator of National Auto
Service on Western Avenue in South Bend. John was of the Catholic
faith.
John's surviving family includes his son,
John J. Korpal of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Kara Corban
of South Bend and Kristin Simpson of Avon, Indiana; four
great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Korpal of South Bend, Jacob Corban
of South Bend, and Isaac and Emma Simpson of Avon; and two
sisters, Vera Dunbar and Harriet Lukasiak, both of
California. John was preceded in death by brothers and sisters,
Leo Korpal, Sophie Jahnz, Ted Korpal, Edwin Korpal, Helen Kubiak
and Ernie Korpal.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from
10 a.m. to noon in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home,
503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held Wednesday
at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park,
Granger, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. The family suggests
contributions in John's memory may be made to the charity of
one's choice.
Editor: He married Mary Urbanie Coesens in St. Joseph
County IN. She died 1-13-2001 is South Bend.
