T. Kopczynski
April 12, 1926 - Feb. 16, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Walter T. Kopczynski, 83, passed away on Tuesday,
February 16, 2010, in his residence. Walter was born on April 12,
1926, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Angela (Kwestorowski)
Kopczynski. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester. He
is survived by his three daughters, Susan (Donald) Huff of
Elkhart, Diane (Reginald) Day of Rosemont, PA, and by Charlotte
Flora of South Bend; seven grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren; and by his three sisters, Sallie Kopczynski,
Josephine Nalepinski and Frances Nowak, all of South Bend. Walter
served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of
the American Legion and Post 357. He was a superintendent of the
Waste Water Treatment Plant for the City of South Bend, and was
the former owner of LuWal Company. Walter was a former City 6th
District Councilman. He would constantly find things to fix; when
he wasn't fixing things, he enjoyed fishing, sewing and politics.
Walter was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. ST.
JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the
family. Cremation will take place, with burial in St. Joseph
Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the St.
Vincent DePaul Society of St. Joseph County, Inc., 3408 Ardmore
