John Kolat.
John Kolat, aged 59, of 2406 West Linden
avenue, who attempted suicicde Aug. 25 in his home, died of
illuminating gas poisoning in Epworth hospital about 3:45 p.m.
Friday. The man was partially revived after being
discovered sitting over a gas stove on which the jets had been
opened but his condition remained critical throughout his stay in
the hospital. Mr. Kolat was born in Jugoslavia May 10, 1882
and came here from that country 35 years ago. He leaves his
widow, Julia Lotzi <Loczi> Kolat; his mother, Mrs.
John Kolat, in Hungary; a son, John Jr. of South Bend, two
daughters, Mary Kolat and Mrs. Stephen Vuckis, and two
grandchildren, all of South Bend, and two sisters in Hungary.
He was a member of the Hungarian Sick Benefit society. Friends
will be received in the residence.

The funeral of John Kolat, aged 59,
of 2406 West Linden avenue, who died in Epworth hospital Friday
from illuminating gas poisoning following an attempted suicide
five days earlier, will be held in Hungarian Presbyterian church
at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Stephen Kalabany will officiate and
burial will be in Highland cemetery. Friends will be
received in the residence.
