John Kolat, 75, of 24260 W. Edison,
died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Hospital after a lengthy
illness. He was retired in 1969 from the Bendix Corp.
Born on Dec. 2, 1906, in McKees Rock, Pa., he had lived here for
41 years after coming from Chicago. On Aug. 18, 1928, in Crown
Point, he married Gladys Woolverton. She survives,
along with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Songer of Mishawaka;
a son, John A. of South Bend; three grandchildren; a
great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mary Gaul and Mrs. Ann Vuckis,
both of South Bend.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Twin
City Baptist Church, Mishawaka. Rev. Mike Randall will
officiate Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends
may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William.
He was a member of the church and the Jolly 60 Club of the
church, the Michiana and St. Joseph Valley Beagle Clubs, the
Bendix Christian Club, and Bendix Local 9, UAW.
