Erentrude R. Kocsis (Sept. 11, 1924 - Sept. 30, 2007)

SOUTH BEND - Erentrude R. "Trudy" Kocsis, 83, passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, in Hospice House. Trudy was born in South Bend on September 11, 1924, to the late Edward and Stella (Szweda) Flowers. On June 24, 1944, in South Bend, she married Joseph Kocsis, who passed away in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Sikorski. Surviving Trudy are her daughters, Karol Sue (Robert) Piecuch of Winona Lake and Mary Jo Stauffer of Grand Rapids, MI; four grandchildren, Sheri Piecuch-Warner of Toronto, Canada, Kara Anne Piecuch of Warsaw and Rob Piecuch of Winona Lake, and Paul Stauffer of Berrien Springs; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Warner and Katherine Warner, both of Toronto, Canada; and an aunt, Gertrude Szweda of South Bend. Trudy was a homemaker and had lived all her life in the South Bend area. She was a member of the American Legion Post 357 Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and was a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Trudy's greatest enjoyment came from being with friends and family. She will be fondly remembered as the "Angel Lady'" to all who knew her. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated today, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
