NORTH LIBERTY - Mary E. Knepp, 96, of
North Liberty passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008,
in her home. She was born October 11, 1911, in Lakeville, to
William and Pearl (Sousley) Smith. On October 14,
1930, in Lakeville, IN, she married Russell Knepp, who preceded
her in death on July 14, 1991. Mrs. Knepp is survived by two
sons, John Knepp of North Liberty, IN and Eldon R. (Bernice)
Knepp of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Karen (Bill) Rose,
Beth (Scott) Schmitt, Jack (Jackie) Knepp, Mickey, Jeff
and Dan Knepp, and Jill (Chuck) Holmquest; 11
great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Two
sisters, Arlene Cohee of North Liberty and Anna Richard
of Pierceton; also survive her. A daughter-in-law, Mary Knepp;
two sisters, Iona and Blanche Hummel; and two brothers,
Clarence and Earl Smith preceded her in death. Mrs. Knepp was a
lifelong area resident. She was a member of the Riley Women's
Club, an active member of the Farm Bureau and St. Joseph Home
Economics Club and a former member of the County Choir. Mrs.
Knepp played the piano and organ at church, where she was the
pianist for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S.
Michigan St., Lakeville. Rev. Wayne Joyner will officiate. Burial
will follow in Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit
with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, in the
funeral home. Contributions may be offered to a charity of the
donor's choice.
