Genevieve C. Klopfenstein, 88, of Chicago Trail Village, New Carlisle, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, in Hospice House, South Bend.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1910, in South Bend, to John and Stella (Borlik) Chrobot and was a lifelong resident.
On Nov. 14, 1951, she married Jacob C. Klopfenstein, who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1992.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Plank of South Bend, Sylvia Taelman of Auburn. Ind., Shirley Corpe of Buchanan, Mich., Pauline DeMeyer of New Carlisle; five sons, Ted Taelman of South Bend, Cecil and Wilber Klopfenstein of North Liberty, Ind., Dean Klopfenstein of Walkerton, Ind., and Glen Klopfenstein of South Bend; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Tillie Szymanski and Gertrude Papai of New Carlisle; and by two brothers, John and Edwin Chrobot of South Bend.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Taelman in 1997; and by a daughter, June Frazier in 1992.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
