Edmund G. Klemm, 82, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Monday, April 26, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mr. Klemm was born on Jan. 12, 1917, in Burkeville, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Martha Klemm; and by two sisters, Cora Krumm and Esther Hickman. He was the owner/manager of retail lumber yards and retired in 1980.
On Feb. 7, 1942, he was married to Bethel M. Dahl in Lowell, Ind. He is survived by his wife Bethel; his daughter, Julia D. Klemm (Stephen Burkat) of Calumet City, Ill.; and by his son, Brant E. (Shelley) Klemm of South Bend.
Mr. Klemm was a World War II combat veteran, having served with military intelligence and the 9th Air Force in the European Theater, assigned to B-26 bombers. He was a member of the American Legion Cedar Lake Post #261, and was active for many years in Kiwanis.
A private memorial service and burial will be held in Lowell, Ind. Services entrusted to the McGann Funeral Homes, University Area Chapel, South Bend.
