Bernard "Ben" L. Kleinert, 93, of South Mayflower Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka, Ind. He was born on June 22, 1907, in Elkhart, Ind., to the late Frank and Valeria (Kowarsch) Kleinert. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ted, Ed, Leo, Agnes, Helen, Steve and Joe. Mr. Kleinert lived in this area most of his life, and retired from International Harvester after 47 years of service.

On. Nov. 15, 1930, in South Bend, he married Margaret Kristofzski, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Charles) Lies of South Bend and Janice (James) Johnson of Edwardsburg, Mich.; a son, Jerome (Carole) Kleinert of Granger, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Larry Lies, Tim Lies, David Lies, Eric Kleinert, Amy Kleinert, Matt Kleinert and Joshua Johnson; and by eight great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 27, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, in Holy Family Catholic Church where he was a member. Entombment will be at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Building Fund, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.
