SOUTH BEND - Daniel Allen "Dan" Kistler, 60, of
Asheville, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Sunday,
July 11, 2010. A native of South Bend, he was the son of Mary
Louise Donahue Kistler and the late Chester E. Kistler.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his loving spouse of 25
years, Carol Chapman Kistler; and his brother, James
"Jim" Kistler (Katy) of Hendersonville, NC; sister,
Kathy McDonald (Tim) of South Bend; and several nieces and
nephews. He attended St. Joseph High School and Holy Cross Jr.
College. He served his country during the Vietnam
War and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was married
in 1985 in Bonita Beach, Florida, and after leaving his
employment at Imagineering Enterprises, he and Carol moved to
Asheville, North Carolina. He was always ready and willing to
lend a hand to those in need. He was also an avid golfer before
he got scleroderma in late 2006. A memorial service was held on
Saturday, July 17, 2010, at First Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ, where he was a member), with Rev. Dr. Tom Everton
officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church
Building Fund, 470 Enka Lake Road, Candler, NC 28715; or to the
Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers,
MA 01923.
