Mary S. Kish (May 7, 1901 - Feb. 26, 1999)

Mary S. Kish, 97, residing at Shamrock Gardens, formerly of Tanglewood Trace Retirement Home in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center Transitional Skilled Care Unit, South Bend, Ind.

Mrs. Kish was born in Budapest, Hungary on May 7, 1901 to the late Anthony and Mary Sipotz, and had lived in this community most of her life.

She was a former employee of Wilson Brothers Shirt Factory, the Studebaker Corporation, and H.D. Lee Company, all in South Bend.

On Nov. 20, 1920 in South Bend, as Mary Sipotz, she married Joseph B. Kish, who preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1963.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph J. Kish on Jan. 26, 1999, and his first wife, Clara Kish on Sept. 14, 1974; and by a sister, Elizabeth Farkas.

Mrs. Kish leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Mary Frances Kish of South Bend; a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Kish of South Bend; six grandchildren, Joseph J. Kish of Jacksonville, Fla., James R. (Sharon) Kish of Mentor, Ohio, Richard A. Kish, Jr. of Stow, Ohio, Barbara M. (Michael) Blume of Granger, Ind., John M. (Joan) Kish of Mishawaka, Ind., and Diana L. Kish of South Bend; two step-granddaughters, JoAnn (Steve) Wells of St. Louis, Mo., and Susan Von Bergen of Oakland, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Kara, Timothy, Jeffrey, Daniel, and Alissa Kish, Michael and Laura Blume, and Jennifer (Kirk) Duncan; one step great-granddaughter, Julia Wells; and three sisters, Frances Toth of Mishawaka, Margaret Buday of Elkhart, Ind. and Theresa Bachelada of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Gaughan will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, where a parish Rosary will be said at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Kish was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Church.

SOUTH BEND - Mary S. Kish, 97, of Shamrock Gardens, died Friday in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Survivors include a son, Richard A. of South Bend; and three sisters, Frances Toth of Mishawaka, Margaret Buday of Elkhart and Theresa Bachelada of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
